The luxury Emirates Palace hotel in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) unveils a Christmas tree decorated with over 11 million dollars' worth of jewellery.
UAE-DIAMOND TREE - The Christmas tree itself maybe artificial but there's nothing fake about the precious gems adorning it.
More than 130 items of jewellery including gold, diamonds and pearls hang from its branches.
The gems, which are on loan from the hotel's jewellers, are valued at $11 million dollars - making this the world's most expensive Christmas tree.It's on display at Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace hotel where sales and marketing director Janet Abrahams says it's been getting plenty of attention.
Janet Abrahams, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Emirates Palace Hotel, saying:
"What we are trying to do is to give everybody who visits and everybody who is staying here the chance of to be part of something really special and unique."
The hotel which already boasts its own marina, heliport and a machine for dispensing gold bars, says all it wants for Christmas is an entry into the Guinness Book of World records.
