Police say the accident occurred when a suspected drunk driver fled police and crashed through barricades set up for the festival, according to local media reports.

A man and a woman are listed as the dead with Austin police officials telling local media that 23 other people have been injured. Five of them critically.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. local time. About five - ten minutes after the accident a local videographer was able to record the aftermath. The video shows the wounded still in the street as people gather to help them.

"And all of a sudden this car came like driving through hit like ten people," said one festival attendee.

"He just took off, hit all these people right here. I think those people are dead honestly," said another unidentified festival attendee.
