A 37-year old Austrian man shoots his son in school in St Poelten.

ST POELTEN, AUSTRIA (MAY 25, 2012) (APA) - A father has shot his seven-year old son on Friday (May 25) in a school in St Poelten in Austria. The 37-year old man injured his son severely before killing himself. The motive for the attack is still unknown but investigators assume a family feud.

"There was a life-threatening shot to the head of the child," said Markus Voglauer of the St Poelten rescue services. "But it was still not clear whether it was a targeted attack or a killing spree. And normally we do not get involved like this because we wait for the police to secure the scene first."

According to the police the man went into the school, took his son out of class and shot him in the head in the cloak room of the school.

The boy was taken to the local hospital and is still in critical condition. Later the police found the car the father and his body.
