West Midlands Police appeal for information and show video of gunshots fired at officers during riots. Rough Cut (No reporter narration)

UK-RIOTS POLICE CCTV - Video released by West Midlands Police on Saturday (August 20) and taken during the riots on the night of Monday (August 8 - 9) shows hooded, masked and armed shooters taking aim and firing at officers.

Describing video captured on a CCTV camera, Detective Superintendent Tim Bacon said: "That's the police support unit arriving at the scene and then you'll see there's a number of people putting their hands in the air and then, that individual quite clearly aiming a shot towards the police lines before they retreat."

West Midlands Police have released video from CCTV and aerials captured by a police helicopter. The force has also published over 200 stills from video on their website in the hope of identifying the shooters and those involved in the rioting.

Rioters bombarded police with missiles, set fire to cars and buildings and looted dozens of shops in the worst outbreak of violence in English cities for decades. The mayhem, in which five people were killed, badly damaged Britain's reputation for stability less than a year before London hosts the Olympics.
