A British tourist dies after falling off a cliff near waterfalls in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, local media reports.

WENTWORTH FALLS, AUSTRALIA (JANUARY 6, 2012) (AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION) - A British tourist died after falling 80 metres (262 feet) off a cliff near a waterfall at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney on Sunday (January 6), Australia's ABC reported.

Local media said the 20-year-old male was with with friends at the popular tourist spot when he slipped.

A woman who was in the area said she warned the group about the slippery conditions prior to the accident.

"We were at the bottom of the waterfalls and I saw a group of French and English kids, well, you know adults mucking around on the rocks and it's very slippery. The they went down to the next one. I knew something was going to happen and then I just saw panic," said the unidentified woman.

Local media reported that the man's body was retrieved on Monday (January 7).
