Police in the Australian state of Victoria release CCTV footage of missing Irish woman Jillian Meagher, believed to show her last known movements. MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (SEPTEMBER 25, 2012) (AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION) - Detectives in Melbourne, Australia, released CCTV footage of missing Irish woman Jillian Meagher on Wednesday (September 26). Police believe it shows her last known movements. The footage shows Meagher talking to a man in a blue sweat shirt, then walking away. There are also other people in the footage who were in the area around the same time as the missing woman. "We're appealing for anyone that was there on that evening to contact Crime Stoppers. We're interested in talking to anyone that was in the Sydney Road area in the early hours of Saturday morning that may have seen Jillian or indeed anyone that knows who the people in the footage are. We're particularly interested in talking to a man in a blue top that is depicted in the footage who appears to be talking to Jillian," said Detective Inspector John Potter. Police said 29-year-old Meagher was last seen in the early hours of Saturday (September 22) morning when she had drinks with friends and colleagues at a bar in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Brunswick. Detectives found her handbag on Monday (September 24) not far from where she disappeared, but police said it was possible that the bag may have been planted at the scene. A Facebook page has been set up by Meagher's family for members of the public to share information. |
