JERUSALEM (MAY 3, 2012) (REUTERS) -  Orthodox Christian worshippers re-enacted Jesus' funeral at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Orthodox Easter Friday (May 3).

The faithful believe the church is the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

During the ceremony, members of the clergy toured the church's yard three times.

The Orthodox Easter festival begins on Good Friday with a procession through the Via Dolorosa, a path marking the last hours in Jesus' life, to the church.

On Easter Saturday or Holy Saturday (May 4), worshippers are set to participate in the Holy Fire ceremony.

The Easter holiday culminates on Easter Sunday when Christians believe Jesus rises from the dead three days after being crucified.

Most Orthodox Christians use the Julian calendar.
