ST ASTAPH, WALESUNITED KINGDOM (NOVEMBER 27, 2012) (BBC/ITN HELICOPTER) -  There was renewed heavy flooding across the UK on Tuesday (November 27) with at least 500 properties affected and 70,000 more at risk, according to Britain's Environment Agency.

Aerial views of St Astaph in Wales showed an elderly man being rescued from his home by emergency services in a rubber dinghy, before being taken to safety along main streets that had turned into rivers.

The Environment Agency had issued 193 flood warnings, indicating that a flood is expected, by 1330 GMT on Monday (November 26), with central and south-west of England most at risk.

Britain has been hit by several severe floods over the past ten years, with one in the summer of 2007 costing insurers about 3 billion pounds ($4.8 billion).
