NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (DECEMBER 13, 2013) (REUTERS) -  The halls of Madison Square Garden were decked with holiday spirit on Friday (December 13) as some of music's biggest stars played the New York edition of the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour.

The annual holiday concert was headlined by Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus with Pitbull, Paramore and other 2013 chart toppers on the lineup.

Veteran rock band "Fall Out Boy" joked they are the black sheep of the lineup.

"For us it's really interesting because we get to play with acts and bands that we otherwise wouldn't get to play with. So that's fun and it changes things. And we're walking down the hall and we're like, oh, they're dancers here and stuff. Why don't we have dancers. I've thought that for years now, multiple times," said bassist Pete Wentz.

Jazz singer Harry Connick Jr. and his wife surprised their teenage girls with tickets to the show.

"Kate specifically, my daughter, 16-year-old daughter, has been asking about Jingle Ball for a long time. So Jill (wife) and I worked on getting the tickets and surprised them as an early Christmas present. So this worked out really well," said Connick, who is in the middle of judging the new season of the U.S. singing competition show American Idol.

Some of the proceeds from the night's concert will go to benefit TV personality and Idol host, Ryan Seacrest's charity.

"We're building studios, TV and radio studios around the country in children's hospitals and tonight helps that out," he said on the red carpet.

Actress Katie Holmes kicked off the night by introducing Selena Gomez, while Lindsay Lohanhelped usher out Miley Cyrus, who closed out the show.

The holiday concert tour will make stops in various cities including London and Los Angeles.
