A video broadcast on a Kenyan channel shows the full extent of destruction toWestgate mall, the scene of a four day siege by militants. Three storeys of the shopping centre have crumbled and the area is still smoking.

NAIROBIKENYA (SEPTEMBER 25, 2013) (KTN) -  Footage released by the Kenyan defence forces and broadcast on Wednesday (September 25) showed where three storeys of the Westgate mall had collapsed and were still smoking.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Tuesday (September 24) that three floors in a part of the mall had collapsed near the end of the operation, leaving an unknown number of bodies under steel and concrete.

The video showed piles of wrecked vehicles lying on collapsed concrete at the scene of the attack that killed at least 72 people.

The militants stormed the mall, known for its Western shops selling iPads and Nike shoes, in a hail of gunfire and grenades at lunchtime Saturday (September 21). The attack ended on Tuesday when Kenyan troops detonated explosives to get through locked doors inside the mall as they searched for militants or booby traps.
