Britain's Prince Charles celebrates his 65th birthday in Sri Lanka, where he is attending a Commonwealth summit meeting.
COLOMBO, SRI LANKA (NOVEMBER 14, 2013) (AGENCY POOL) - Britain's Prince Charles celebrated his 65th birthday in Sri Lanka on Thursday (November 14), where he was presented with a cake to mark the occasion.
The Prince, who is in Colombo to attend a Commonwealth summit, was greeted at the British High Commissioner's residence with a birthday reception attended by staff and guests.Charles arrived in Colombo earlier on Thursday after a nine-day tour of India. He was accompanied by his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
He is representing his mother, the Queen, at the Commonwealth meeting, which is due to begin on Friday.
According to a recent profile on the Prince in the U.S. magazine Time, Prince Charles is in no hurry to become king.
The article says that since 87-year-old Queen Elizabeth has started easing up on her official duties, Prince Charles has been picking up the slack, but accepts these additional duties "joylessly".
Charles' passion in life is his charitable work and he wants to get as much done as he can before ascending the throne, according to Time.
In his 65 years, Charles has founded more than 50 charities, and raised 224 million pounds for them in the 12 months to March 2013.
His flagship Prince's Trust charity has helped 650,000 young people across Britain over the years.
