Lebanese score a new Guinness record for the biggest glass of wine at 2.4 metres high and 1.65 metres wide, outdoing Portugal which held the previous record.
BEIRUT, LEBANON - It was the toast of the town in Beirut, as Lebanon proudly unveiled the world's largest wine glass.
Guinness World Record representative Liz Smith was on-site to verify it's authenticity.
Liz Smith, Guinness World Record official, saying:
"The previous record was set in Portugal 12 years ago and I am proud to announce that Lebanon and Eventions and Vinifest have achieved a new world record so the record now stands at the height of 2.4 metres and the width of 1.65 metres."
Locals began pouring dozens of bottles into the gigantic goblet.
While the combinations of reds and whites may have been full bodied, the actual glass struggled to fill the quarter mark.
The contents were courtesy of the country's grape growers, who pitched in their produce to promote Lebanese wine.
Event organizer Nada Farah said it was an opportunity to raise a glass to all the vintners.
Nada Farah, event organizer, saying:
"Because Lebanon is known for its wine and over time has started to export more than half of its production, I liked the idea of creating this glass to bring together all the winemakers in Lebanon."
The largest wine glass will accompany Lebanon's largest food pairings of tabbouleh, traditional meat, as well as the world's biggest bowl of hummus.
