Three children, are found dead at a home for disabled children near the Spanish city of Valladolid.
VALLADOLID, SPAIN (AUGUST 15, 2011) TVE - Three children, aged three, nine, and 14 years were found dead on Monday (August 15) at a home for disabled children near the Spanish city of Valladolid.
"I saw a distressed woman running over there with a mobile phone," a witness at the home said.
Police say a care worker has been held after the three severely disabled children were found.
"We don't know the reason at all, but the person who took care of them, who started working there five years ago and was very close to that centre has killed the three children," a family councillor said.
The children were found after police were summoned to the home in the small town of Boecillo, near the town of Valladolid.
One theory being considered by police is that the carer suffocated the children - who were severely disabled and had very limited mobility - with a plastic bag in what she saw as a mercy killing.
