Police are investigating a betting scam at Melbourne's Crown Casino that is believed to have netted a high-rolling cards player around 33 million U.S. dollars.
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (FILE) (AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION) - The police and Victoria's gaming regulator are investigating a betting scam at Melbourne's Crown Casino in which a high-rolling cards player is believed to have netted 32 million Australian dollars (33.3 million U.S. dollars), local media have reported.
Officials from the casino have not divulged any details about the betting scam except that a patron was expelled from the premises and a staff member with VIP status was fired over the incident, the ABC reported.Media reports have said it is believed that the casino's own surveillance system was used in the scam and that the gambler cheated on eight hands of cards.
