Samantha rushed back to The Plough pub in Cadsden, Buckinghamshire where she found her daughter with staff.
David and Samantha left the country pub in separate cars and each thought the other had Nancy with them. It wasn't until they got home that they realised their mistake.
Cameron and his wife Samantha leave their 8-year-old daughter in a pub following drinks at lunchtime on Sunday with friends.
CADSDEN, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM (JUNE 11, 2012)(ITN) - Prime Minister David Cameron left his 8-year-old daughter Nancy in the pub on Sunday (June 10) following a lunchtime drink with friends, after a mix-up with his wife Samantha.
Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities, said:
"I'm very pleased that Nancy was missing for only 15 minutes because it must have been absolutely heart stopping for David and Samantha."
Katie O'Donovan from Mumsnet, a website for parents and has discussion forums for members, said that Cameron's mistake had "lots of people....talking about it on Mumsnet today". She went on to say that "there is some sympathy out there for Cameron today.....parents are busy people, often sleep deprived."
Mr Pickles also told a reporter that "it could have happened to anybody and I'm really pleased that everything worked out OK."
Even though Cameron was swiftly reunited with Nancy, the incident will add fuel to critics who accuse him of being overly fond of relaxing, or "chillaxing" as he has called it, when not dealing with affairs of state.
