KARLSRUHE, GERMANY (JULY 4, 2012)(REUTERS) - Four people, probably including a gunman, were killed during a hostage taking incident at a house in southern Germany on Wednesday (July 04), a police spokesman said.
Four people were killed after hostages were seized in southern Germany, one of the dead likely to be the gunman.
Earlier, police said the gunman had taken up to four people hostage following an attempted eviction of an apartment in the southern town of Karlsruhe.
"Just a few minutes ago the Baden-Wuerttemberg special forces entered the apartment after smelling smoke and found several dead bodies. The investigation as to what exactly happened is ongoing," the spokesman told reporters.
The gunman had several hunting weapons, according to police.
No further details were immediately available.
