A successful immigrant from Kazakhstan who became a self-made millionaire,Alexander Fishenko, appears in Federal court on suspicion of selling military secrets to Russia.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (OCTOBER 22, 2012) (JANE ROSENBERGSKETCHES) - Alexander Fishenko, a self-made millionaire who built his fortune in Texas after emigrating from Kazakhstan, appeared in Federal court in Brooklyn on Monday (October 22) on suspiscion of military espionage.
The 46-year-old Fishenko was one of eleven defendants in a federal indictment that alleges that since 2008 the group circomvented export controls for cutting edge electonics shipped to Russia. Fishenko is also charged with money laundering and operating as an unregistered agent of the Russian government.
Fishenko, a naturalized American, was arrested on October 3 when the FBI raided the offices of his Houston, Texas based company, Arc Electronics Inc. He could face as many as 12 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
