ARGENTINA-BANK ROBBERY - It's a bank heist that seems straight out of a Hollywood movie.
Bank robbers in Buenos Aires, Argentina dug a tunnel under two businesses and snuck their way into the Banco Provincia during the New Year's holiday, escaping with an estimated 6.5 million U.S. dollars .
Investigators say the heist had been in the works since last July when the team of at least three men dug a 50 -foot long tunnel 16 feet below the ground in order to reach the section of the bank housing safety deposit boxes.
Bank officials have announced at least 140 of the safety deposit boxes had been violated.
UNIDENTIFIED BANK CUSTOMER, SAYING:"There is the no doubt that the bank is responsible. The bank is responsible. Because people bring their things here for security."
Bank officials said they are looking into how multiple security lapses allowed for the robbers to walk away even though the alarm sounded throughout the holiday weekend at least three times.
