A driver has been rescued after spending the night in her car perched on a 300 foot cliff edge.
ST AGNES, CORNWALL, UNITED KINGDOM (JULY 26, 2011) ITN - A driver who was inside her vehicle as it plunged off the road and came to a standstill on a cliff edge was rescued on Tuesday (July 26) after spending the night in her car.
Search and rescue teams say the 56-year-old woman became stranded on the English coastline at St. Agnes, Cornwall and spent the night stranded 300 feet above the sea on the cliff edge before local rescue workers were alerted in the morning.
"It is a very steep slope and I think the driver was very lucky they didn't roll completely off the cliff," Ivor Thomson from the search and rescue team said.
The rescue mission involved the car first being secured before rescuers could winch the driver to safety.
A member of the public who had climbed down the cliff in an attempt to help the woman also had to be rescued.
