As temperatures drop, parts of the United Kingdom are covered in a blanket of snow.
LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (JANUARY 18, 2013)(ITN) - Snow covered parts of the United Kingdom on Friday (January 18), with blizzard conditions and strong winds hitting many areas.
In London and the west of the country, icy conditions made driving hazardous, while theMeteorological Office said it has issued severe weather warnings for areas expecting heavy snowfall.
Up to 30 centimetres of snow were expected in some hilly parts of Wales.
The Meteorological Office said conditions would improve over the weekend, although further outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow were still possible in some places.
With the snow unlikely to melt quickly, the Meteorological Office said ice would continue to pose a risk to motorists and pedestrians.
