Golfer Tiger Woods' half-brother, Earl Dennison Woods Jr., is arrested after officials said he made a bomb threat at the government building where he worked.
MEDINAH, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES (REUTERS) - U.S. golfer Tiger Woods' half-brother has been arrested for making a bomb threat to the government building where he works, Phoenix police said on Friday (December 13).
Earl Dennison Woods Jr, 58, was booked on Thursday (December 12) on a misdemeanor charge after threatening to blow up an Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) building in downtown Phoenix, police said.Woods was released from jail late on Thursday, a Maricopa County sheriff's official said.
Terms of his release were not immediately available.
Security personnel at the building alerted police after the office's front desk received the call on Thursday morning.
About 100 workers were evacuated as a precaution by security and the building was searched.
Woods also told police the threat was a joke and later said the same thing to a local television station upon his release.
He was charged with one count of use of an electronic communication device to terrify, intimidate, threaten or harass. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
A state economic security spokeswoman had no immediate comment.
