USA (Next Media) - At least 60 people were injured Saturday after a car hit a crowd of hikers in the Appalachian Trail Days parade in Damascus.
A green Cadillac was traveling on Route 91 around 2:15pm when the elderly driver, who may of had a medically-related incident, lost control and cut through a car wash.
The car went around several vehicles at the back of the parade.Witnesses said the Cadillac hit a Subaru station wagon and then went on to hit a large group of hikers.
One hiker was able to enter the Cadillac from the driver’s side rear door and bring the car to a stop.
Six men then lifted the Cadillac off a victim trapped when the car came to a halt.
The accident happened during the Hiker’s Parade at the annual Trail Days festival, which honors the famous hiking trail.
