A woman is attacked by a kangaroo while walking her dog in Western Australia.
MANJIMUP, AUSTRALIA (OCTOBER 17, 2011) SEVEN NETWORK - A kangaroo attacked a woman on Saturday (October 15), near the town of Manjimup, Australia, 295 kilometres (183 miles) south of Perth. The attack left her with cuts and bruises, and over 20 stitches in her ears.
"I thought I was finished. I thought I was dead, actually. I just, like, blanked out 'cause I thought I was going to die," said victim, Janet Karson. The attack occurred after Janet's blue heeler, an Australian breed of dog, chased after the kangaroo. By the time Janet caught up, she found the kangaroo with its claws around the dog.
"I saw this kangaroo hanging onto him, really like in a bear hug sort of thing, with the paws over him like that," she said.
She tried to pull the kangaroo off her dog, but that's when it turned on her.
"The next minute it, sort of like, hopped straight to me and started scratching with its claws."
Janet believes it is a miracle that she survived the attack, but she doesn't hold grudges against kangaroos.
Kangaroo attacks are a rare occurrence in Australia.
