R Reports - South Korean president Park Geun-hye apologises on Monday over allegations of sexual harassment by her former spokesman.
Yoon Chang-jung was sacked after allegedly groping a 21-year-old Korean American assisting the president's party on her first state visit to the United States. SOUTH KOREAN PRESIDENT PARK GEUN-HYE:
"I'm really sorry that people were greatly disappointed by such a shameful incident, which should never be done by a public servant, and occurred near the end of my visit to the United States."
South Korea media said the woman told U.S. police that Yoon 'grabbed her buttocks without her permission' at a Washington DC hotel.
SOUTH KOREAN PRESIDENT PARK GEUN-HYE:
"I sincerely apologize about the shock the female student, who is a fellow (South Korean) national, and her parents must have felt, and the hurt felt by compatriots."
56-year-old Yoon made a public apology on Saturday but denied the allegations, attributing them to 'cultural differences.'
Park has pledged to take necessary measures and cooperate fully with the U.S. investigation.
