Mariachi singers gathered at the Rose Bowl to break the Guinness World Record for largest mariachi serenade.
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (JULY 8, 2013) (NBC) - The world record for number of mariachis playing in a single location was broken on Sunday (July 8) at the Rose Bowl in the city of Pasadena in California.
566 musicians played a five-minute serenade during the halftime of the Mexicoversus Panama football match during the opening round of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.Guinness World Record officials were on hand to mark the new record which beat the previous record set three years ago, when 555 mariachis appeared at a conference in Tucson, Arizona.
Organizers said the performance was to honor the Gold Cup teams and celebrate recent renovations of the Rose Bowl.
