London is global media hotspot

A mother who killed her three children is sentenced to 16 years in jail.

The world's media is gathering in London to capture every moment of the royal wedding for billions of fans worldwide.

Media from all across the world have flocked to London in preparation for Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding with the necessary pre-ceremony coverage.Camera platforms and media camps are sprouting from the ground and with it comes hordes of reporters.

American broadcaster NBC's Wendy Rieger says that her channel alone has brought over thousands of people.

"We have been coming over in waves, we have a cast of thousands. I thought, I think The Today show sent 65 people over - just The Today show. I called back to work yesterday, and said the only Americans I can find here right now are people with cameras on their shoulders."

It's not just the Americans who are thrilled by the royal wedding.

Colombian reporter Leo Pareja explained Latin America's fascination with the event.

"In Latin America, we do not have a royal family. Only Spain's and we follow with great interest what is going on with the Spanish government, King Juan Carlos, his wife, the prince - and it is something similar now with London and England with the royal family."

Canadians are especially interested because they are still part of the British Commonwealth.

CTV news anchor Graham Richardson explains.

"It is a very big story in Canada. We're in the middle of an election campaign and at times I'm sure on Friday the royal wedding will obviously trump the election at least for a few hours; it's going to back and forth between the two of them in the days leading up to it."

All eyes and camera lenses will be focused on William and Kate come Friday when the royal couple say their I Do's.
