Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, urges Indian media to make nation's citizens aware of the truth of corrupt leaders with their clear and honest reporting.
BANGALORE, KARNATAKA, INDIA (JANUARY 05, 2014) (ANI) - Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has urged the Indian media to make nation's citizens aware of the truth of corrupt leaders with their clear and honest reporting.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama was speaking on the sidelines of his address at the 92nd Association of Heads of Anglo-Indian Schools of India at the Bishop Cotton School in southern city of Bangalore on Sunday (January 05).Dalai Lama said that media should have a long nose like an elephant's to sense what is going on in the society.
"Media people should have long nose like elephant nose and smell everywhere and make public (aware) what (is) really going on including those corrupted people. (They should) make clear provided (it) must be honest, truthful, objective, then make clear (to) public," he said.
The Dalai Lama, who is based in India since 1959, says he is merely seeking greater autonomy for his Himalayan homeland.
Many Tibetans say Chinese rule has eroded their culture and religion. They are agitating for the Dalai Lama's return from exile in India, and genuine autonomy for their homeland.
The Chinese government denies trampling Tibetan rights and boasts of having brought development and prosperity to the region.
