Demonstrators take to the streets to demand a new constitution.
TANZANIA-CONSTITUTION RIOTS - Demanding change in Tanzania.
Hundreds of opposition protesters marched in the capital of Dar Es Salam on Tuesday calling for a new constitution.
Tanzanian police used force to disperse the crowds -- arresting nine members of the opposition Civic United Front. Here a policeman asks protesters to voice their demands through the proper procedures.
The unrest grew out of October's disputed presidential election with calls for electoral reform and a new constitution limiting presidential powers.
The government says it would consider amending the existing constitution but not adopting a new one.
That's not enough for The Civic United Front.
JULIUS MTATIRO, CUF DEPUTE PREFERMENT SECRETARY, SAYING:
"We need to have a new constitution in our country. We don't want the old constitution with small fixes. We keep on saying we need a new constitution and this is not war, we are saying this openly."
Meanwhile, demonstrators say they won't stop until their demands are met.
