Zimbabwe - Zambia/Visit -- Zambia's president Michae Sata visits Zimbabwe
CCTV BEIJING - Zambia's president Michael Sata visited Zimbabwe on April 25-27 where he officially opened the country's international trade fair. This was Sata's first visit to Zimbabwe since taking office in September last year.
During his three-day visit in Zimbabwe, President Sata held talks with his Zimbabwe counterpart Robert Mugabe. The two countries signed two cooperation agreements on strengthening their relations.
On Friday Sata officiated at the 53rd edition of the International Trade Fair (ZITF) held in Zimbabwe's second city Bulawayo. The annual show attracted international exhibitors from over 13 countries.
The 2012 edition has been hailed as Zimbabwe's most successful in recent years after previous ones failed to meet expectations owing to the economic meltdown in the country.
Sata is believed to be an admirer of Mugabe and he used this trip to reiterate his support for the 88 year old leader.
Jongwe is Mugabe's party symbol and a name that is used commonly to refer to him. Literally translated Sata said, hail Mugabe.
Zimbabwe and Zambia share a close history with the former playing a pivotal role in supporting Zimbabwe's liberation war. The two states also enjoy strong trade relations. Zambia is Zimbabwe biggest trading partner in the Comesa region and its' fourth largest in SADC.
