The trial of a 48-year-old German man accused of abusing and fathering seven children with his step-daughter begins in the western town of Koblenz.
KOBLENZ, GERMANY (FEBRUARY 15, 2011) REUTERS - A 48-year-old German went on trial on Tuesday (February 15) in the western town of Koblenz accused of sexually abusing his step-daughter for more than two decades and fathering at least seven children by her.
The man, identified as Detlef S. from the village of Fluterschen in western Germany, is also accused of abusing his own daughter and a step-son, and forcing both daughters into prostitution.DNA tests reportedly suggest the man is the father of at least seven children by his step-daughter. Another child, whom he may have fathered, is believed to have died.
The accused's stepson was present at the court and told reporters that he was there to support his sisters who, he said, no longer needed to be scared.
"Of course you are scared in such a case but I can say to myself that he is where he belongs and he can't do anything more to me even though there is a great deal of fear involved," joint plaintiff and step-son of the accused said.
Detlef S. has been held by police since August. He is believed to have committed the abuse between 1987 and 2010.
