New York City police search for clues into the grisly murder of a British youth soccer coach.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (OCTOBER 7, 2012) (NBC) - New York City police continue to search for the suspect who fatally stabbed a youth soccer coach and cut off his ear on Sunday (October 7). The victim lived in New York but was a native of Liverpool, England.
Police found 25-year-old Michael Jones, a young soccer coach for the Red Bulls youth training program, dead on the sidewalk on West 14th Street in Chelsea.
Authorities have released video of the man believed to have fatally stabbed Jones, repeatedly striking his upper body and cutting off his ear. Witnesses called 9-1-1 around 4:25 Sunday morning after finding Jones lifeless. He was pronounced dead at Bellevue hospital.
Police tape criss-crossed the area where Jones was found as investigators looked for evidence and interviewed people in the neighborhood.
