Obama meets members of his cabinet to assess the impact of the impending government shutdown.
WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES (SEPTEMBER 30, 2013) (RESTRICTED POOL) - U.S. President Barack Obama met members of his cabinet on Monday (September 30) as a deadlocked Congress nudged the U.S. government to a precarious shutdown of non-essential operations.
Obama said that, with hours before a midnight deadline, the department heads were working to ensure impact of the shutdown was minimized."We're going to be discussing the impacts, potentially, of a shutdown and how all of these various agencies will be managing to make sure the core essential functions continue, but also, obviously, to help try to manage what's going to be a very difficult potential situation for the employees of all of these agencies, who are doing outstanding and very difficult work all across the country," Obama said.
