Largest Christian population in the Middle East gathers for mass and celebration at Jerusalem's Church of Resurrection. Sarah Wali reports.
MIDEAST-PALM SUNDAY MASS - Hundreds of Catholic Christians attend church services in Jerusalem on Sunday to mark the beginning of the Holy Week ahead of Easter.
The day commemorates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, a symbol of peace in the ancient world.
The prayers were led by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The church is also known as the Church of Resurrection and is where, according to Christian tradition, Jesus was buried.
Later on Sunday worshippers were scheduled to march down Jerusalem's Mount of Olives towards the Old City in the annual Palm Sunday procession.
Christians from all over the world will join the procession in which they'll chant and hold palm fronds as an emblem of joy and victory over enemies.
