NYU student rescued after being stuck between two buildings.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (NOVEMBER 3, 2013) (NBC) - A 19-year old New York University (NYU) student was rescued after becoming pinned between two walls in Manhattan police said on Sunday (November 3).
The student, whose name was not released, was trapped in a narrow space located between the university's dorm and a parking garage.
It took firefighters more than one hour to break through the wall of the garage to free the student.
"He was removed alive," said Deputy Chief Joseph Schiralli of the FDNY (Fire Department New York).
Schiralli added, "It's undetermined how long he was in the shaft. It's undetermined how many stories he fell and the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time. But he is conscious and he is alive and he is being transported to the nearest hospital."
Investigators think the student may have fallen from a window or from a rooftop.
The student is expected to recover.
