UK (Next Media) - BSkyB executive Nick Milligan, 51, and his eight-year-old daughter were killed in a speedboat accident near Padstow, Cornwall on Sunday. Four other family members, including a 39-year-old woman, a four-year-old boy and two girls aged 10 and 12 are in hospital with serious injuries after all six were thrown the boat in the Camel Estuary.
The family, from London, was on holiday in Cornwall over the bank holiday weekend. They were on their own speedboat when it suddenly malfunctioned. Witnesses say the speedboat turned sharply and threw its occupants into the water. It then locked itself in a circling pattern in the water and ran over the family, slashing the victims with its propeller. After the alarm was raised, a man identified as Charlie Toogood from Camel Ski School drove a vessel alongside the out-of-control speedboat, jumped onto it and managed to stop it.An area of the harbour at Padstow was cordoned off and the speedboat owned by the family was taken away for examination.
Miiligan was managing director of Sky's advertising sales division, Sky Media.
