The widow of former Beatle, John Lennon, Ono was born in Tokyo in 1933.She spent much of her childhood years in Japan and New York.
On March 20, 1969 Ono married Lennon, one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the Twentieth Century.
Lennon was her third husband, after previously being married to composer Toshi Ichiyanagi and Anthony Cox, an American jazz musician, film producer, and art promoter.
She has two children, one daughter from her marriage to Cox and son Sean Lennon.
Even at old age, Ono remains an active campaigner.
