Lights were on at the American embassy in Rome late in the evening, but rumours freed American student Amanda Knox may turn up, appeared unfounded.
ROME, ITALY (OCTOBER 3, 2011) REUTERS - The American embassy in Rome had its lights on late in the evening on Monday (October 3) but rumours freed American student Amanda Knox may turn up to receive a passport appeared unfounded.
Rumours were rife following the overturn of a murder sentence by an appeals court as to exactly where Knox would head next. Many believed she would need to turn up at the American embassy to re-new a passport expired whilst being in prison for four years.
But there was little evidence she would show up in the early hours of the morning.
Many believe she will leave on a regular airline for New York on Tuesday but there are still voices that an American network may have paid for a private jet to take her home.
