Rami Al-Sayed sustained fatal shrapnel wounds in the shelling of the Baba Amr area, activists said.A video of his body in a morgue was posted to his Youtube channel.
Reuters is unable to independently verify the contents of the video.
The Bambuser website which streams live video broadcast by citizen journalists in Syria paid trubute to Sayed on its official blog.
"Rami Ahmad Alsayeed has for months been one of the bravest and forefront fighters in getting the world's attention on what's going on in Homs, Syria," the blog said.
Pro-opposition areas of Homs have been under a sustained bombardment from government forces since Feb. 3. Several hundred people have been killed, activists say.
The Syrian conflict is especially dangerous for journalists to cover as opposition and rebel forces are for the most part bottled up in enclaves.
American correspondent Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik were killed in the besieged Syrian city of Homs on Wednesday (February 22) when rockets fired by government forces hit the house they were staying in, opposition activists and witnesses said.
