A British man is arrested on suspicion of killing his two young children near Lyon inFrance.
SAINT-PRIEST, LYON, FRANCE (MAY 19, 2013) (BFMTV) - French police were questioning a 48-year-old British man on Sunday (May 19) over the deaths of his two children at their apartment in a suburb of Lyon, local media reported.
The divorced father was arrested on Saturday (May 18) night after his ex-wife discovered the bodies of their children, aged five and ten, in the flat in Saint-Priest.
According to initial findings, they had been killed by a knife.Despite the couple being divorced, the two parents were still living together as the man was said not to be willing to leave, local media reported.
Neighbours on Sunday said they were shocked by the news.
"No one could think he could do such a thing, but could something dramatic happen with him? Yes, for sure. If you look at his arguing with neighours, his drinking as much as he did, it wasn't unexpected," said neighbour Sebastien.
"Whatever his alcohol problems were, what he did to two children is not forgivable. Nothing like this is forgivable, whether one is crazy or alcoholic. What he did is a real shame," said Anastasia, another neighbour.
Neighbours said the man was a former commercial driver who was currently unemployed.
The police investigations were continuing.
