People attempt to swim away from island of Utoeya after a gunman opened fire at a youth camp of the Norwegian Labour party.
UTOEYA ISLAND, NORWAY (JULY 22, 2011) TV2 - Norwegian police on Friday (July 22) arrested a gunman who opened fire at a youth meeting on the island of Utoeya.
The man, who Justice Minister Knut Storberget identified in a news conference as being Norwegian attacked a youth camp of the Norwegian Labour party on Friday.
A witness who said he had gone to the island on his boat to help people evacuate said he saw at least 20 bodies.
Police declined comment on the number of casualties at the youth camp at Utoeya, northwest of Oslo and there was no independent confirmation.
Several people could be seen attempting to swim away from island.
Justice Minister Knut Storberget added that at least seven people were killed in a bombing in central Oslo and 10 injured.
