China-Sniper Rifle -- New China-made rifle debuts for military teaching, training
China Central Television (CCTV) - A new rifle made in China came into service in teaching and training for the first time in three-day military competition from Friday to Sunday in Nanchang City, east China's Jiangxi Province.
The QBU-10 sniper/anti-materiel rifle, with caliber of 12.7 millimeters and a maximum shooting range of two kilometers, and an effective shooting range of 1.5 kilometers, was used for the first time in teaching and training on Sunday. It can realize precise strike at targets within one kilometer.The new rifle is 40 centimeters longer than the QBU-88 sniper rifle, which is widely used by Chinese army at present. The 13-kilogram-weight rifle is three times as heavy as the QBU-88 rifle.
The snipers in mountain used a QBU-10 rifle to shoot a one-centimeter-thick steel plate one kilometer away on the foot of the mountain.
"The optical sight of the rifle is controlled by laser and can correct aiming points automatically. The rifle not only can attack "enemy", but also destroy light-duty armored vehicles, helicopters and radars," said Hu Gang, director of military equipment department of Nanchang Military College.
