A Toronto man appears in court to face charges of murdering a Chinese student whose boyfriend in China said he saw her struggle with a man in her apartment via webcam.
TORONTO, CANADA (APRIL 21, 2011) CBC - Brian Dickson appeared before a Toronto court on Thursday (April 21) to face charges of first degree murder.
The boyfriend of 23-year-old Chinese foreign exchange student Qian Liu said he was chatting with her via webcam when he saw a man came in to her apartment and a strugle between the two.
The York University student's parents arrived in Toronto Wednesday (April 20) night to claim their daughter's body.
Police are still investigating how Liu died.
Dickson's childhood neighbour Lorne Hiro said he was a good neighbour.
"He was a great kid. I didn't have any problems with him. He was cordial, sociable, curious and just a nice guy. That's all I can really say," Hiro said.
Dickson is scheduled to be back in court on April 26.
