A coffin exhibition titled "Boxed: Fabulous Coffins from UK and Ghana," held at the South Bank Centre in London baffles and entertains visitors with customized coffin creations.
LONDON, ENGLAND, UK - If you plan on designing your own coffin, you might want to take a peek at what others have come up with.
At a London exhibition called "Boxed - Fabulous coffins from UK and Ghana" you can just do that.Custom made coffins ranging from a guitar to a cacao bean are on display.
Most are commissioned by the Paa Joe Workshop in Ghana and Crazy Coffins in Nottingham.
Brian Holden wants to make his final trip inside the Orient Express.
Orient Express coffin commissioner, Brian Holden, saying
"The Orient Express is unique, should we say, and having enjoyed my journeys on it there, I decided that the final journey I might make, well would make one day, would be in the Northern Bell, or at least a scaled down model of it."
Each work reflects the life for whom it's made.
While some were amazed -
Exhibition Visitor, Pat Cox, saying
"Absolutely Amazing. People have obviously got their own individual ideas, and they are extensions of their life."
Others were unnerved.
Exhibition Visitor, Gemma, saying
"It's quite strange that people actually put that, think about that in advance and create such bizarre coffins. It's quite freaky in a way as well."
As part of "Death: Southbank Centre's Festival for the Living," the coffin exhibit provides food for thought about our own mortality.
