CANNES, FRANCE (MAY 20, 2012) (REUTERS) - If diamonds are forever then crystals can't be far behind, as Swarovski announced its first ever actress to be the face of its advertising campaign, new Bond girl Berenice Marlohe.
Swarovski teams with James Bond for the British film franchise's 50th anniversary.
The "Skyfall" actress, who just finished up wrapping the latest instalment of the movie about the international superspy, was in the Swarovski suite at the Martinez hotel at the Cannes Film Festival to talk about the collaboration.
"I feel extremely honoured to be have been chosen to be the face of Swarovski and they are involved with the Bond movies since more than 30 years so it's great because my experience on the film so far was absolutely amazing too," she told Reuters Television.
Marlohe is Swarovski's global spokesmodel for Autumn/Winter and a special collection celebrating the 50th anniversary of the film franchise will be launched in October.
Marlohe plays the exotic and mysterious Severine in the new 007 thriller, which also features fellow Bond girl Naomie Harris, Javier Bardem as the villain, and Judi Dench returning as Bond's boss "M". "Skyfall" is directed by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes and will of course see Daniel Craig returning a the suave, Martini-drinking spy.
"He's a good man," Marlohe said of Craig, "I didn't know him before and he's a wonderful human being, he has a great sense of humour and we had a lot of fun."
Of the half-century anniversary of one of the biggest and most well-known British film exports, Marlohe said: "It's completely unique for a movie to last since 50 years and they found the magical ingredients to make them last in the time like that."
Marlohe will show the first public teaser clip from "Skyfall" in a special ceremony in Cannes on Monday (May 21) night. She will be joined by former Bond girl Martine Beswick who starred in "From Russia With Love" and "Thunderball".
