Three people are dead and five are wounded in shooting at a restaurant in southern German village.
DOSSENHEIM, GERMANY (AUGUST 20, 2013) (RHEIN NECKAR TV) - Three people, including the attacker, were killed and five injured, when a man opened fire in a restaurant on Tuesday evening (August 20) in southern Germany, police said.
The attack took place at the Dossenheim Sports Club restaurant, near Heidelberg."What we can definitely say is that today just before 1900 (1700GMT) a shooting took place. A man with a pistol shot two people and injured five others, some seriously, he then later killed himself. The background to the attack is probably linked to a dispute during a meeting of property owners, where the attacker and the victims were taking part in," said Heidelberg District Attorney Florian Pistor.
Although Pistor could not confirm the motive and sequence of events that prompted the shooting, he said that a dispute had taken place during the meeting.
"I do not know the exact timing of the attack. What I know is that first probably came the verbal confrontations, at which point the offender was asked to leave. He then came back and carried out the attack," Pistor added.
Forensic experts were seen outside the restaurant collecting evidence. Police said that one of the injured was in critical condition. The identity of the attacker remains unknown.
