BRUSH, COLORADO, UNITED STATES (APRIL 24, 2012) (NBC) - Bored with farm life, a Denver dairy cow named Darcy broke free from her pen last Friday (April 20) and walked half a mile to a McDonald's drive-through. Her owner Sandy Winn remained unaware that her cow was missing until she received a strange phone call from the police.
A runaway dairy cow makes headlines after she escapes from her pen and shows up at a McDonald's takeout window, half a mile down the road.
"We got a call from dispatch asking if my son had a dairy cow. I said 'yeah, he has a dairy cow.' And she told me that it was up at McDonald's," Winn said.
"I think it was for some fries and a strawberry milkshake," joked Winn's son, Zach.
Darcy walked up to the drive-through and popped her head into the window, startling employees who snapped pictures of the brash bovine.
Her owners described Darcy as "good", but "stubborn" and said the cow was known to wander away if she didn't receive enough attention in her pen.
Winn's younger son Lucas said he feared Darcy would be jailed for her little adventure, but police have pressed no charges.
