Tens of thousands of students, faculty and staff evacuate Texas A&M University after a bomb threat.
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, UNITED STATES (OCTOBER 19, 2012) (NBC) - Authorities ordered an evacuation of the campus of Texas A&M University on Friday (October 19) after receiving a bomb threat, the campus website said.
A warning posted on the university website read: "The University has received a campus-wide bomb threat. We are asking all students, faculty, and staff to evacuate campus as quickly and as safely as possible by foot. Do not use a vehicle at this time. This evacuation is effective immediately until further notice."
Texas A&M, with an enrollment of more than 50,000 students, is located in College Station, about 100 miles (160 km) northwest of Houston.
Friday's threat was the latest of several in recent weeks against U.S. university campuses. Last month a bomb scare prompted the evacuation of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
