NVO - House were ripped open, cars overturned and several people were hospitalised after what is believed to be a rare tornado ripped through a suburb of Tokyo on Monday (September 2).
Japanese media report 'several dozen' people were hospitalised after what seemed like a twister ploughed through Koshigaya and Noda, an hour's drive from central Tokyo.
Thousands of homes were reported to be without power.Violent wind bursts, some seemingly tornado-like in nature, have been observed in the suburb flatlands surrounding the capital, but rarely have large swathes of residential areas been affected before.
