British adventurer Sarah Outen is rescued by the Japanese Coast Guard after getting into difficulties on a solo cross-Pacific record bid.
AT SEA/FILE-OUTEN RESCUE - British adventurer Sarah Outen ran into trouble as she attempted a record-breaking solo row across the Pacific Ocean.
Her 6.4 metre rowing boat Gulliver was crippled by a tropical storm.The vessel's being abandoned at sea.
Outen's being taken ashore for hospital checks after the Japanese Coast Guard came to her rescue.
The row across the Pacific was the latest leg of Outen's attempt to circle the globe by human power alone.
She'd hoped to row the whole 8, 334 kilometre distance.
The 26-year-old left her home country in April.
Since then she's travelled nearly 18, 000 kilometres through Europe, Central Asia, China, Russia and Japan by kayak, boat and bicycle.
