A red postbox has mysteriously appeared in the middle of a bridge in Sonning-on-Thames, Berkshire. The box has been placed on a buttress on the downstream side of a bridge making it only accessible to river users; and leaving residents of the Berkshire village scratching their heads.
SONNING-ON-THAMES, BERKSHIRE, UK (SEPTEMBER 10, 2013) (ITN) - Residents of a village in the county of Berkshire in south-east Englandhave been left perplexed by the mysterious appearance of a red post box in the middle of a bridge crossing the River Thames. The box is fixed to the buttress of the bridge, making it only accessible to those on river boats.
People in Sonning-on-Thames have come up with a number of theories for the box's sudden appearance, but suspicions are it may be the work of a local artist or a PR stunt for a nearby theatre company.
